IGCSE

Which courses are compulsory?
All students will study Maths and English for Years 10 and 11. The English programme is based around two IGCSE courses, English Language and World Literature, and goes continuously from Year 9 to Year 11. Various set texts are studied as well as the use of English for various types of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
The Maths classes are set according to the student’s ability with the subject. Those who are capable to do so are taken well beyond the IGCSE syllabus to prepare for the higher levels of IB Maths. Those who find the subject more challenging are given extra support to take them through and beyond the basic skills.Note that your IGCSE choices will have an effect on what can be chosen for some of your IB subjects (e.g. if you do not select the Chemistry course in IGCSE, you will be unable to study it at a higher level in IB).
